Crop It Like It's Hot | Knit Top + Printed High-Waisted Pants + Mules

Wednesday, May 15, 2019

Wait. How is it already halfway through the fifth month out of 2019? Mind-blowing... And speaking of mind-blowing – how is there only one episode left of Game of Thrones ever?! Time is flying too quickly. Which is also why it's been extra hard for me to fit in LunaVida posts – and for that, I am very sorry! But I'm back today with an #OOTD that is very "Art Teacher Chic" if you ask me. Doesn't this outfit look like (a hopefully cooler version of) something your 7th-grade art teacher would've worn but, like, with a paintbrush tucked behind her ear? ...Maybe I have too much of an imagination... but regardless, I am iiinto this new trend of comfy, breezy, wide-leg pants!

Black knit crop top with side zippers (also seen here): ASOS

Print high-waist cropped pants with tie: American Eagle
[similar - on sale for under $16!]

Nude mules: American Eagle

Gold aviator sunglasses (here): Old Navy

Gold statement collar necklace (also seen here, here, and here): H&M

Gold bracelets (also seen here, here, and here): Target, c/o oNecklace, and c/o Blue Sunflowers

Do you watch GoT? (If so, what are your theories?!) Are you into the lightweight, baggy pants trend? If you're not a fan, I get it. But I also recommend trying on a pair – because, honestly, this level of non-pajama comfort is unparalleled.

Polka [Dot] Dance | Cardigan + Top + Skinny Jeans + Ankle Boots

Saturday, February 16, 2019

Hello! I am currently writing this cuddled up on our couch in a blanket, with Dakota at my feet, in front of our big living room window with the best early 2000s playlist on in the background. Doesn't get better than that, does it? Oh, but wait. It does get better. It's also currently RAINING. I know, I know. A lot of people hate rain but between living in Arizona and now Southern California for the past few years of my life storms have been a scarcity in my life. I have always loved the sound of rain so this is heaven on earth to me right now 😊

So this is totally off topic, but even though I've been blond-er since December, I still get taken aback whenever I see photos of myself with light hair! Does the shock ever wear off? Also, if you know of any great cruelty-free products to help with the extreme dryness, please let me know! I have never before needed hydration in my hair so badly.

And continuing on with the theme of not staying on topic even a bit but needing recommendations: Next weekend I am headed on a road trip up to Oxnard for work. I've never been up there before. I hear it's gorgeous, and I am very excited! I will be super busy during the days but if you have any evening spots we must see/do - especially vegan-friendly spots - please share those too! Thank you!!

Umm... Christmas is one week away. Seriously, where is the time going? If you haven't noticed, I've been *way* behind on LunaVida posts. I am also still so far behind on holiday shopping. This season of life had just been buuuusy. I mean, the holidays are always full every year but this year seems to be even more so than usual. I'm not quite sure when things will be calming down but I'm hoping to get back to semi-normal blog posting schedule by the New Year! In the meantime, be sure to follow along on Instagram @alliegee319 for more timely updates... meaning photos of my dogs and cats obviously ;)

Print In Progress | Cardigan + Blouse + Jeans + Boots [& LunaVida's 6th Anniversary!]

Thursday, December 6, 2018

Today is the 6th anniversary of LunaVida!

It's still so crazy to me that six years ago I decided to start a blog because we were living in a rural town in Florida -- and honestly, I was going stir-crazy for the year we were there. I needed a creative outlet and settled on a blog that I somehow still enjoy writing more than half a decade later - just now I get to do it while living in my dream city instead. You never know where things will go, or where life can take you in a matter of just a few years. (Which makes me want to remind anyone else who is currently feeling stuck, just like I was in good, ol' Spring Hill, that things do get better. We just have to work towards what we really want every single day, and eventually, we'll get there. Okay, sorry - promise that I'm done with the motivational speech... for today.)

Anyways, as I type this I am at my mom's house in Ohio with snow outside the window... aaand with hair that I dyed BLONDE kinda on a whim last night 👀 What better way to celebrate another "blogiversary" than with a brand new personal lewk? 😉 Just kidding, dying my hair had nothing to do with LunaVida turning six years old today. (And no, these photos don't show my new hair. You can see it on IG @alliegee319!)

Off topic but the photos in today's post were taken in Julian, California back in October. I've discussed my love for this tiny town on more than one occasion, but the fall colors that were starting to pop through during this particular day trip made for the prettiest backdrop. Funnily enough, I'm now bundled under multiple blankets living that winter life back in the Midwest. Makes me feel like I'm really (temporarily) experiencing all the seasons this year!

Autumn Attire | Cardigan + Tank + Skinny Jeans + Ankle Boots

Friday, October 26, 2018

Happy Friday! We made it. What are you up to these next two glorious days? This weekend involves fitting in some more fall fun for us (and my mama's birthday -- Happy B-day, Mom!). My friend and I are hitting up another pumpkin patch today before coming back here to carve them by a fire in our backyard, cider in hand of course. On Sunday we are headed up to Orange County for the day to go to Knott's Berry Farm. I've never been before but I love me some roller coasters! And then somehow next week it's already Halloween, quickly followed by the election (make sure you're registered to vote at www.vote.org, please!), and then I head up to Northern California for a retreat at the farm animal sanctuary I started working for recently! Autumn really is shaping up to, once again, be the best time of the year 😊

Navy open-front knit cardigan (also seen here, here & here): Gap

Gray floral print tank top (also seen here): Old Navy

Light wash ripped skinny jeans (also seen here, here & here): Target
[similar - on sale!]

Nude studded ankle boots (also seen here, here & here): Old Navy
[similar - under $40]

14k gold triangle necklace: c/o Sivado Studio - currently 25% off!

Gold bracelet (also seen here, here & here): Target

Cognac belt (also seen here, here & here): Gap

What are you wearing for Halloween? We don't have any plans for the holiday this year so I don't have a costume planned, unfortunately. I'll most likely be sportin' my favorite jogger sweatpants and an oversized tee, as I watch The Office and Parks & Recreation Halloween episode reruns. 👻
