Crossing the Line | Denim Jacket + Dress + Espadrilles + Straw Bag

Friday, June 21, 2019

Daaaamn. Time is flying. It's somehow the first day of summer... And we are already more than halfway through 2019. How? How is that possible? These past few weeks have been especially busy. It feels like I've barely even been home – and I work remotely, so I'm already home more than the average person! For Memorial Day Weekend, Matt and I road tripped with the pups up to Las Vegas for our dear friends' wedding shower. Then last week I flew to the east coast for my work's annual all-staff retreat in Pennsylvania. Then this Sunday Matt and I are headed to Europe! YAY, YAY, YAY! We are off to Dublin, Barcelona, Santorini (this time around for the previously mentioned friends' nuptials!), and Paris. Honestly, though, this trip completely snuck up on us... and so I don't feel super prepared – but hey! That's half the adventure anyway, right?

Oh! And this is our first international trip since going vegan, so if you have any tips and/or recommendations for any of those cities, pleeease share!

I'll see you in July (if life slows down at all post-vaca 😉)!

That's A Wrap | Floral Top + Ripped Jeans + Ankle Boots

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

Hiii! I am so excited because Matt and I are headed to visit our friends in Phoenix this weekend! (Be sure to follow along on Instagram @alliegee319 for those stunning desert views.) It's still so hot there though, so we're trying to ready ourselves for the onslaught of perspiration that is sure to occur... especially now that I've switched to natural deodorant 😳 All the sweat is worth it though, of course, to see our Arizona buds, meet our friends' brand new baby girl, and hit up the first Halloween party of the season! (Writing this also just reminded me that I have to get a Halloween costume together by Saturday... whoops!)

Speaking of excitement, I have some life news that I can't wait to share with you (soon)! As we all know, life certainly has its ups and downs but sometimes those synchronicities align just the way we need them to. Ya know what I'm saying... ooor did you just roll your eyes?

Polka Dot Drop | Crop Top + Black Cutoffs + Sandals

Wednesday, August 2, 2017

I'm back in San Diego! I returned from Ohio yesterday, and not 30 minutes after my Lyft dropped me off at my front door, the moving company was at my front door for a quote. That's right. Matt and I are once again unexpectedly on the move due to a water leak. And once again lemons were turned into lemonade because although moving in always a pain, we were fortunate enough to quickly find a new place. And this new place just so happens to only be a couple blocks walk from Windansea Beach in La Jolla! We currently aren't even biking distance from the beach, so this is a very (VERY) welcomed move. We have always loved La Jolla, but it is a pricey area (that is an understatement too, because just about everywhere in San Diego is expensive). However, somehow the stars aligned and we will now be saving a whopping $20 a month on rent! (Our new place may be about 200 square feet tinier, but who cares because we now have a fenced-in backyard for the dogs and can bike to one of the best beaches in the county in 1 minute!)

Needless to say, WE ARE SO EXCITED! Moments like this remind me to promptly stop the pity parties and focus on the new opportunities that present themselves when "bad" things happen. Just about this time last year our rental house in Phoenix was having constant pipe issues, which ultimately led to Matt and me moving to California just a few months later. Funny how things tend to work out when we just let them, huh?

Black and white polka dot asymmetrical crop top: Anthropologie

Black distressed cutoff denim shorts (also seen here & here): Gap

Black skinny belt with cutout details (also seen here, here & here): J.Crew

Black braided sandals (also seen here, here & here): Old Navy

Wide-brimmed straw sun hat with black ribbon detail (also seen here): Target

Black crossbody bag (also seen here, here & here): Target

Tortoiseshell sunglasses (also seen here, here & here): Jeffrey Bay

Madewell gold cuff bracelet (also seen here, here & here): c/o Shopbop

These photos were taken in the middle of nowhere in the SoCal desert, hence why my hair is blowing (not so sexily) in the wind in every single one.
Oh well. What can ya do? 😝

Due to these events that have popped up recently, LunaVida has sadly taken a bit of a back burner. Not for long though, I promise! As soon as we are moved into our new home and are all set up, I plan to be back to a normal posting schedule. Bear with me, please and thank you (and in the meantime, follow along on Insta Stories to see the havoc that is moving with pets in a matter of days @alliegee319) 😁

Vintage Inspired: Floral Print Dress + Stacked Heel Sandals

Friday, July 28, 2017

Hey there (and please accept my apologies for being unexpectedly MIA)! Guess where I currently am. That's right - the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. (No one guessed that one.) I've been here visiting my family since Sunday. Last week I found a last minute flight that was way too good of a deal to pass up, so I booked it.

Approximately 12 hours after purchasing said ticket, Matt was getting into bed and felt that the carpet was soaked. Upon investigation, we realized that the water heater in our apartment was leaking into our storage room... and bedroom walls... and carpet...... Then we discovered there was the dreaded mold. 😓 (We have bad luck with water leaks in rentals, huh?) So, without boring you too much more with details, poor Matt has been dealing with all of this -- while also going to work, of course --  whilst I spend time with my nieces 2,200 miles away. Thus, he deserves a public shout out for being the best: THANK YOU, MATTY! 😘

Madewell gold cuff bracelet (also seen here, here & here): c/o Shopbop

Anyway, now that all of that is nearly out of the way, it's time to focus on this here dress in today's post. Isn't it a vintage-looking beaut? I love how it is sort of oversized. Plus it is very twirlable. And it has POCKETS. That is a real win in the category of dresses, right?

Best Places To Visit In San Diego | America's Finest City Travel Guide

Friday, July 21, 2017

If you've been following my blog for awhile, you've probably caught on that last year my boyfriend and I moved from Phoenix, Arizona to San Diego, California. You've probably also gathered that we are ob-sessed with our new city, because I can't help myself from raving about it on occasion all the dang time. (What can I say? It was a lifelong dream of mine to move to Southern California one day, and after 27 years I am finally here, baby! So what if I can't get over it and am still kinda in disbelief that this glorious city is our home?) That's why I want to share my extensive knowledge what I know about San Diego so far since moving here under a year ago.

Whether you are planning a weekend trip or a longer vacation to SoCal, there are so many beautiful places you need to see, delicious restaurants you should check out, and beaches you gotta... beach? Gaze below for my top San Diego spots, and then pick as many of your favorites as you can possibly squeeze into your next trip here.

Sunset Cliffs (Point Loma)

I feel as if this place doesn't really need an introduction, because its name pretty much gives it away... There are really stunning sunsets here... just as the name suggests.

Annie's Canyon Trail (Solana Beach)

If you like hiking this underrated gem is the perfect place for you. We happened upon this trail on 4th of July and it is definitely my favorite. The hike, for the most part, is moderate with just a few (really fun mini rock climbing, including a graffiti cave!) parts that may make you break a sweat. Once you reach the top you get an amazing ocean view as an added bonus to an already entertaining hike!

Plant Power Fast Food (Encinitas and Ocean Beach)

This is my favorite quick vegan place that we've been to so far. Don't get me wrong, I have literally fallen in love with every single plant-based restaurant Matt and I have tried in the Southern California area (and believe me when I say, there are a lot of them). This place just nails it, though. We've gone multiple times, and each time we try a new menu item that we fawn over for days after. (If it's your first time I recommend The Big Zac.)

Del Mar Cliffs & Del Mar Dog Beach

An easy stroll along the cliffs looking upon the water below? Sign me up. The best dog beach in San Diego (in my humble opinion)? Double sign me up. Del Mar is everything that is cute, quaint fancy pants beach town. We love strolling their little village, coffee and pups in hand. (This is also another great place to catch the sunset. My sister and I took my niece to a waterfront park, had her put on my "magic sunglasses," and she made the sunset with her powers. It was pretty damn cute.)

Coronado Island

This quaint little island town is a must see. The first time we went here we got to see dolphins, walk around the city, and gaze at the pristine homes. (It, too, has gorgeous sunsets - just see below for proof. Although, I won't lie to you, really you can catch an amazing sunset every night you are here at almost any coastline.)

Carlsbad

This is the beach town that started it all for Matt and me. As I mentioned before, I have always loved and dreamed of living anywhere on the coast of California. And while Matt did like San Diego the first time we ever visited together, he was a bit taken aback by A.) Pacific Beach, where we were staying - and is full of nonstop partying - and B.) the sheer amount of people in comparison to everywhere else we'd lived. I begged (and begged, and begged) him for years after to agree to a move. Then, fast forward to 2016 when our friend moved from P.B. up to Carlsbad, we went to stay with him, Matt fell head over heels for this tiny north coastal county town, and the rest is history as they say.

Just a few days ago Matt and I took the dogs on a mini road trip up to Lake Calavera in Carlsbad. I wore one this amazing avocado toast tank top c/o Vegan Love Apparel.
It is so soft. I even made Matt touch it, because I couldn't stop gushing, and even he was blown away.
Best. Tank. Ever.
(You'll see it again soon in a full outfit post, but I had to share it with you now, because it is too good to pass up. And it's from a vegan company, so you know I can't recommend it enough!)

La Jolla Cove

Ah, yes, La Jolla. Breathtaking 360 degree views, loads of rich people, AND wild seals AND sea lions in their natural habitat? Sign me up! You should also totally sign up for a Groupon deal to kayak here. There are secret caves -- and you may even catch an up close glimpse of the sea wildlife. (When we went kayaking with our friends, Hailey and Nick whose travel blog you should totally check out, a seal swam right up near us in the water!)

Do any of these views have you itchin' to plan a vacation to paradise San Diego now? If not, maybe this will: the average annual temperature is 69.8°F and sunny.

There's a reason it's called "America's Finest City" after all.

Safe travels :)

[Not So] Fancy Florals: Tee + Skinnies + Flats

Monday, April 28, 2014

Hey there, guys!  How is life these days?  Things here in the AZ are great :)  Our foster dog, Kingsley, has settled in quite nicely (but he has kennel cough - the poor dude).  He and Dakota are the absolute best of friends.  Luna and Kingsley, on the other hand... we're still working on that relationship.  Do any of you lovely LunaVida readers have tips for introducing an eight pound kitty to a gigantic St. Bernard mix?  (Any advice that you have at all helps!!)  For now, we are just taking it nice and slow with the introduction process and letting the cat call the shots (as it should be in all aspects in life).

Ooh, and be sure to check out Instagram (@alliegee319) to see all the cute photos of the babes!

What spring trends have you been busting out lately?  It's already starting to get prett-ay hot here in Phoenix, so I've been wearing pants as often as possible (in order to fit them in before it's officially summer and 100+ degrees every single day, of course).
